Shambala

Shambala

Based on the novel The White Ship by decorated writer Chingiz Aitmatov, Shambala tells the story of a lonely, curious seven-year-old boy who lives in an intimate forest community in Kyrgyzstan.  Shambala, whose namesake is the title of the film, spends his days exploring the ancient mountains and waters and listening intently to his grandfather’s legends of the spirits that watch over them. But when myth and folklore collide with the harsh realities of the outside world, Shambala and his grandfather must face these challenges without sacrificing what is most sacred.
